Father’s Day brought an outpouring of love on social media for all sorts of dads.
A number of celebrity dads were showered with love and praise for all they do.
One of the dads who got a sweet tribute was Harrison Ford.
The legendary actor is the father of five children.
He has two children from his first marriage, 51-year-old Ben and 50-year-old Willard.
His second marriage brought another two children, 31-year-old Malcolm and 28-year-old Georgia.
He raises son Liam, 18, with his current wife Calista Flockhart.
Of his five children, the oldest stepped up with a seriously wonderful Father’s Day tribute on Twitter. Ben, the owner of the Ford’s Filling Station restaurant, posted a photo of himself and his father grilling together. He reflected on how Harrison’s love and support encouraged him to follow his dreams. Ben, who has two children of his own, is surely seeing how that fatherly influence can make a difference in a young person’s life
Harrison Ford has always prided himself in keeping his family out of the public eye. The actor himself is very private, especially compared to other Hollywood greats.
Harrison, 76, has been married three times. He married Mary Marquardt in 1964.
The couple had two children before splitting up in 1979. Now Ben is 51 years old, and Willard is 50 years old.
Harrison then married screenwriter Melissa Mathison in 1983. They had two children, Malcolm and Georgia.
The couple separated in 2000 and divorced shortly after. Harrison met his current wife, actress Calista Flockhart, two years later at the 2002 Golden Globes.
Harrison and Calista got married in 2010. He helps Calista raise her son, 18-year-old Liam, whom she adopted a year before she and Harrison began dating.
Harrison is very close to all his children. He’s been supportive of their careers and various creative endeavors.
Harrison’s oldest son, Ben, penned a touching tribute to his father in celebration of Father’s Day. He posted a photo of himself and his father grilling together.
“I love this photo of both of us grilling it up. Metaphorically I think it speaks volumes,” Ben wrote. “My dad or pops (newly adapted) He taught me resiliency as a young father and later helped give me the courage to pursue my dreams. Happy Father’s Day!”
Ben has always credited his career as a chef and restauranteur to his father’s influence. His biography on his website says:
“A nod to his father’s influence, Ben adopted the ability to create with his hands, a skill that eventually found its way into his cooking. Traveling extensively through South America and across the US, he was enamored by the hand-crafted cooking mechanisms used in homes, from roasting sheds to cinder block pits, many of which became the blueprint for his own versions years later.”
Ben, like his dad, is also a father. He has two sons, Ethan and Waylon.
Harrison is having just as much of an impact on his youngest as he did on his oldest. Earlier this month, he talked about spending quality time with his son, Liam.
He went skydiving for the first time at age 76. He did so because his 18-year-old son wanted to try it out.
He joked that although he and Liam are interested in going again, they’re keeping conversations quiet. “We’re not talking to his mother about it,” he joked.
Harrison seems like a really great dad — he loves being involved in all his kids’ (and grandchildren’s) lives.
