But now their friendship appears to be back on as the two pop divas were spotted nearly side by side as they celebrated a friend’s birthday at 1Oak in New York City on Friday.

Katy and Rihanna bonded as they sat together on either side of the birthday boy, Major Lazer’s Walshy Fire.

The Dark Horse singer can be seen in rare form as she was decked out in a black bra sporting a big grin on her face while smoking a cigarette.

The 29-year-old appeared to lean into Walshy while having her cell phone safely tucked into the cup of her brassiere.

In another shot, the 26-year-old Diamonds singer took her turn puffing on a cigarette while posing with fashion designer Jeremy Scott.

Katy’s rumoured new boyfriend Diplo was not pictured but is a member of Major Lazer – an electronic music project – as well.

During the height of their friendship, the duo were so close that Rihanna even threw Katy a bachelorette party before her marriage to ex-husband Russell Brand.

But once the We Found Love singer got back together with Chris Brown everything changed.

Katy was reportedly so upset with their rekindled relationship that she asked to be seated apart from her former bestie at the 2013 Grammys.

In 2013 Katy even went public about their falling out in an interview with Elle UK. ‘I love her [Rihanna] and every time I see her, I’m reminded of the light that she has,’ said the Roar singer.

The rebuilding of the friendship may have been a slow process but has been aided now that Rihanna wants nothing to do with the Forever singer.

They two lovely ladies were even spotted together recently at a Grimes concert in January.

And now that Rihanna has completely moved on from Chris and reignited her relationship with Drake, their friendship seems to be back on track just like before.
