Sadie’s not the only one in the guest house – her longtime partner, Stedman Graham, previously quarantined there in March
Oprah’s dogs are famously well cared for, with the pups reportedly set to inherit a $30 million trust fund one day. Her dogs include golden retrievers Luke and Layla, cocker spaniel Sadie, and springer spaniels Sunny and Lauren.
And at the moment, her beloved spaniel Sadie is self-quarantining.
While speaking on Oprah magazine’s Instagram Live show The OG Chronicles, the media mogul told her best friend Gayle King that her dog is currently quarantined in her guesthouse as she’s worried she might have coronavirus.
Oprah, 66, had pneumonia last year and is still recovering from “all the bronchial stuff,” so she’s being extra careful.
“She’s in the guesthouse for 14 days, because she had an eye infection and went to the vet,” Oprah explained.
The vet removed her mask during the visit – and while no dogs have been diagnosed with the virus yet, lions and tigers at the Bronx Zoo did test positive – and Gayle said she “heard about a pug in New York” contracting the virus.
Oprah adopted Sadie in 2009, after she visited a no-kill animal shelter in Chicago for a cover shoot.
“Right before we shot the photo…she had licked my ear and whispered, ‘Please take me with you,'” Oprah wrote in 2009 for an issue of O, the Oprah Magazine. “Out of all the pups in that picture, Sadie was the one I felt an instant connection with.”
She continued, “My heart spoke to Miss Sadie, the runt of the litter. I love making the underdog a winner.”
Sadie’s not the only one who was in the dog house – her longtime partner, Stedman Graham, previously quarantined there in March when he returned from a work trip. Now, Stedman is back in the house, leaving Sadie to self-quarantine alone.
