Harrison Ford is one of the most successful and accomplished actors in Hollywood history. 

His roles in films like Star Wars and Indiana Jones have made him a household name.

Jimmy Fallon’s accomplishments have helped the funny comedian to land his own talk show.

Today, Fallon hosts the legendary NBC program The Tonight Show. 

However, before landing the gig, Fallon hosted Late Night on NBC and Ford was one of his guests.

What transpired was a memorable moment that had Fallon completely freaking out.

Believe it or not, this memorable moment came before Fallon took over hosting duties on The Tonight Show. However, he was already on his way. At the time, Fallon was hosting NBC’s Late Night when Ford paid him a visit in 2013.

When Ford made his appearance, he showed pictures from his trip to a ranch. Fallon then attempted to prove he was just as “manly” as Ford.

“When you look at me, do you see a manly man? Do you see a mirror image of yourself?” Fallon asked.

“No … I’m obviously much better looking than you,” Ford answered. “Or I used to be.”

Fallon then turned his attention to Ford’s earring and the actor explained he got the piercing 15 years ago.

“It was a friend of mine’s birthday, and we had a kind of long lunch,” Ford said, implying they had gotten drunk. During the lunch, Ford noticed both of his friends had their ears pierced, so they walked and stopped in the first shop they found that pierced ears.

As Ford prepared to pierce Fallon’s ear, he wore a lab coat and took a shot of tequila. There were initially supposed to be two shots, in order to help Fallon relax and lessen his pain. However, there was only one and Ford decided to take it himself.

Fallon was nervous the entire time and even screamed before the actual piercing began.

In the end, both Fallon and Ford both posed with matching red feather earrings.

Two years after piercing Fallon’s ear, Ford sat down with Fallon again, this time on The Tonight Show. At the start of the interview, Ford expressed distaste over his introduction.

“You keep saying that I’m Academy Award-nominated,” Ford said. “Don’t you get it? I didn’t win. So why…?”

“Because no one here is nominated,” Fallon responded. “They just hear ‘Academy Award,’ ‘Harrison Ford.'”

“Oh, nobody here’s nominated?” Ford asked.

“No, that’s your own personal hell,” Fallon joked.

“Oh, s***. I didn’t know that. I thought you were all nominated,” Ford said.

“We love you! We don’t care if you won,” Fallon assured him.

Ford then turned his attention to Fallon’s missing earring. “Wait a second! Look that way,” Ford said as Fallon turned his left ear to the camera. “I know what you’re going to bring up,” Fallon said.

“What do you mean?” Ford asked. “No, I know what you’re talking about,” Fallon said. “You can’t even see it,” Ford said of the missing hole. “It closed up,” Fallon said. “It closed up?” Ford asked.

Fallon then reminded the audience, “Last time our pal here was on the show, you pierced my ear. There was blood everywhere.”

“Then we got matching earrings, remember?” Ford reminded him.

He then asked, “I gotta ask: What kind of guy allows himself to be physically mutilated by an amateur for no apparent reason?”

“You’re not an amateur! You’re Academy Award-nominated!” Fallon joked. “You almost won an Academy Award, for God’s sake!”

In 2019, Ford made another appearance on The Tonight Show. He used the appearance as an opportunity to remember working with Peter Mayhew. Mayhew was an actor who played the Wookiee Chewbacca in the Star Wars movies from 1977 until 1983. He passed in April of that year at the age of 74.

“He was a really sweet man, nice man, and he had a hard time physically,” Ford said. “It was really hard for him to do what he did for us, what he did for all of us. And he did it with real dignity and class. He was a really neat guy. I miss him.”

It was especially significant to hear Ford reflect on the actor, since his character Han Solo was most closely associated with Chewbacca.

When news of Mayhew’s death broke, Ford expressed his thoughts in a statement.

“Peter Mayhew was a kind and gentle man, possessed of great dignity and noble character,” Ford wrote.

He continued, “These aspects of his own personality, plus his wit and grace, he brought to Chewbacca. We were partners in film and friends in life for over 30 years and I loved him. He invested his soul in the character and brought great pleasure to the Star Wars audience.”

“Chewbacca was an important part of the success of the films we made together. He knew how important the fans of the franchise were to its continued success and he was devoted to them. I and millions of others will never forget Peter and what he gave us all. My thoughts are with his dear wife Angie and his children. Rest easy, my dear friend,” Ford concluded.
