We were already gearing up for the VMAs on Sunday with some serious excitement about Britney Spears’ VMAs comeback and a potential Beyonce appearance (what more could we ask for?).
But then Ariana Grande, she of the crimped ponytail, came along and teased us with a sneak peek of her upcoming duet with Nicki Minaj at Sunday’s awards show. Consider us stoked.

Based on what happened the last time these two musical sensations came together at the VMAs (for a killer rendition of “Bang Bang” in 2014 with Jessie J), the performance is going to be big.
Grande and Minaj are set to perform the track “Side to Side” off Grande’s Dangerous Woman album. On Sunday afternoon, she treated us to a sneak peek of the video for the song, which also drops during the awards show. Coincidence? We think not.
On Saturday, Grande posted another short preview (and, again, we mean short, but, hey, it’s something to tide us over) of what we can expect to see later on her Instagram, and it looks like the performance is going to be a lot of fun:
Also on Saturday, Grande tweeted the following clip of her fanning herself in slow motion (sultry, no?) in what appears to be another teaser for the track’s music video.
The duet isn’t Grande’s only possible shining moment at the awards ceremony, by the way: She’s up for Moonmen for Best Female Video and Best Pop Video for her song “Into You,” and her clip from “Let Me Love You” with Lil Wayne is nominated for Best Collaboration Video.
We have so many questions! Will the performance and video be at all related? And what’s with the bike emoji? Luckily, we’ll only have to wait a few more hours for the answers.
