When he began dating Victoria, David Beckham was so infatuated with the Spice Girl that he would drive for hours just to spend a few minutes with her, an upcoming documentary will reveal.
Ahead of their 25th wedding anniversary next year, the Cotswolds-residing couple and their nearest and dearest detail the lengths the former England captain would go to when it came to seeing Victoria in Netflix’s “BECKHAM”.
The documentary will see the couple, who were known globally as “Posh and Becks”, shed light on their first meeting, which happened after a Manchester United game in 1997.
David, now 48, had told his friends that he wanted to marry Victoria after seeing a Spice Girls music video on TV.
At another match, the second time the future spouses met, Victoria, now 49, wrote her phone number on a plane ticket that she had used to fly to the game, along with the words, “You better call me”. David went along with Victoria’s demand, spending hours on the phone to her, The Mirror reports.
“There was something there just straight away,” David recalled. “It was just like OK, this is it and it’s going to move fast.”
David’s former team-mates remember the obsession the footballer had with popstar Victoria. Gary Neville recalled: “He was on the phone to Victoria every second. He would stay on the phone till one in the morning.”
