In her new memoir, “The Woman in Me,” Britney Spears opens up about her postpartum struggles. She said she experienced depression and anxiety after giving birth to her two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James.
Spears gave birth to her first son, Sean Preston, in 2005 and her second son, Jayden James, in 2006.
She said she felt lonely and isolated after giving birth. She also said that she felt stressed and anxious about becoming a mother.
“I feel like I’m going crazy,” Spears wrote. “I couldn’t sleep and I couldn’t concentrate. I felt like I was in another world.”
Spears said that she tried to hide her emotions from the public. She said she didn’t want people to think she was a bad mother.
“I tried to be strong,” Spears wrote. “I tried to act like everything was fine.”
However, Spears eventually had to admit that she needed help. She began seeing a psychiatrist and began taking antidepressants.
“I had to learn to love myself,” Spears wrote. “I had to learn to allow myself to be vulnerable.”
Spears says she is feeling much better since she started seeking help. She said she wanted to share her story to help others who are going through similar difficulties.
“I don’t want anyone to go through what I went through,” Spears wrote. “I want people to know they’re not alone.”
Spears’ memoir was released on October 24, 2023, and became a bestseller. Her story has inspired many people and has helped raise awareness about postpartum depression.
