Justin Timberlake has responded to allegations in Britney Spears’ memoir, in which she said he betrayed her and contributed to her downfall in 2007.
In her memoir “The Woman in Me,” Spears wrote that she and Timberlake broke up in 2002,
and he released the song “Cry Me a River” shortly after, which hinted that she had been unfaithful.
Older brother. Spears said that the song deeply hurt her and exposed her to public criticism.
Timberlake made a social media post responding to Spears’ allegations.
He wrote that he was “hurt” by her accusations and that he “didn’t want to say anything bad about anyone”.
“I understand that Britney is going through a difficult time, and I want to send my best wishes to her and her family,” Timberlake wrote. “I don’t want to speak ill of anyone, and I especially don’t want to speak ill of anyone in public.”
Timberlake also said that he is “not proud of some of his actions” in the past, but he believes that he has “grown and learned from his mistakes.”
“I’m still learning and growing, and I’m always looking for ways to become a better person,” he wrote.
Timberlake’s reaction has received mixed opinions. Some people think he should apologize to Spears for what he did, while others think he was right in not wanting to badmouth her.
The story between Timberlake and Spears is a prime example of how the media can damage a person’s reputation and career. The two broke up more than 20 years ago, but the allegations in Spears’ memoir have brought Timberlake under fire once again.
