She has been busy preparing ahead of her Super Bowl halftime performance.

But Katy Perry is perhaps going about it in a slightly unusual way, judging by her latest Instagram picture.

The 30-year-old pop star posted a selfie on the social media site, showing her face covered in a white substance and what appears to be clingfilm

Although she was obscured by her creamy face pack, the photogenic star managed to pout accordingly and show off her naturally pretty and make-up free eyes.

She also seemed to be wearing her brunette locks back under a headscarf, which remained slightly covered by the clear plastic wrapping. 

Along with the fun snap, she wrote: ‘IRL facetune #preppinforpuppybowl #swag #bringswagbackin2k15.’

She referenced Facetune – an app which gives users the chance to self-edit their portraits – by way of trying to explain her bizarre beauty regime.

And she wasn’t alone in the photo, as she posed in front of a statue which was rocking a pair of fetching tanning goggles. 

Clearly not afraid of sharing her appearance while not looking quite her best, the confident singer was no doubt making sure she looked as fresh as could be before her debut at the huge sporting event in Arizona on February 1, during which she will be joined by iconic singer Lenny Kravitz.

Or perhaps she was sprucing herself for John Mayer, who she is reportedly in a relationship with again after years of on-off romancing.

They ended things last February but they are said to have taken the time to talk things through with a therapist before reuniting again recently.
