Mariah Carey has responded to Britney Spears’ “statements” about her in her memoir “Britney Jean”.
In the book, Spears wrote that she felt threatened by Carey and that she tried to “shadow” her in the entertainment industry.
Carey posted a status on Twitter in response to Spears’ comments.
She wrote: “I read what Britney said about me in her memoir and I am very sad.
I have never tried to harm Britney and I always wish her the best. I hope that she can find the peace and happiness she is looking for.”
Carey also spoke to ET about Spears’ comments.
She said: “I don’t know why she said those things about me. I never did anything to harm her. I really just wanted the best for her.”
Carey and Spears are two of the most successful pop stars in the world. They were close friends in the 1990s, but their relationship fell apart in the early 2000s.
It is unclear why Spears wrote negative things about Carey in her memoir. However, it’s possible that this is because Spears is trying to come to terms with her past traumas.
Carey has shown understanding towards Spears. She said: “I know Britney is going through a difficult time. I hope that she finds the peace and happiness she is looking for.”
