Nicki Minaj and David Guetta kicked off the 2011 American Music Awards by pumping up the volume. The French DJ led into HB’s grand entrance for a rendition of their single “Turn Me On”.

Speakers placed on her backside, Nicki plugged in during their joint performance, descending on a platform to join her backup dancers.

During the rap portion of the track, the pink-haired diva cozied up to her dancers in a web of lights, segueing into her smash “Super Bass”.

With Guetta behind turntables, she showed off her dance moves between two giant robots decked in LED lights and smoke-spewing pipes as Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez sang along in the audience

The performance was acclaimed by music critics.

Jane Kellogg from Hollywood Reporter called the performance “electrifying” and said that “Minaj’s outfit stole the show.” Vibe said that Minaj “lit up” the awards show with her performance.
