Nicki Minaj wowed as she showed off her stunning curves in a purple ensemble while attending the star-studded Barbie world premiere in Los Angeles on Sunday.
The Starships rapper, 40, who recently delayed the official release date of her upcoming fifth studio album, joined other celebrities on the pink carpet, such as glamorous Margot Robbie and Dua Lipa.
The mother of one turned heads wearing a form-fitting, lavender dress that contained a wrap skirt that was secured with a black leather belt around her waist.
A thigh-high slit was placed on the front for a sultry flare to the look.
The sleeveless, top portion of the outfit was separate by a large cutout around her midriff, and contained a high neck.
She slipped into a pair of open-toed, black heels to coincide with the leather details of the ensemble, and added a silver-chained anklet on her left leg. Her long blonde locks were parted to the side, and cascaded down straight past her shoulders down her back.
Nicki, whose fans are known as Barbz, accessorized the ensemble with a pair of eye-catching, silver earrings and an assortment of rings on each of her hands.
The star’s makeup was glammed up for the glitzy premiere, and comprised of mascara to her lashes as well as dramatic, black winged eyeliner.
A warm blush and dewy highlighter was added for a radiant glow to her cheekbones, while a nude-colored tint was worn on her lips and bordered by a darker liner.
The Anaconda rapper was seen stepping onto the pink carpet under the bright sunshine and struck a few poses to better show off her outfit. At one point, the beauty threw her hands to her face and and flashed an excited smile.
Minaj also crossed paths with Barbie leading actress, Margot Robbie, who stunned as she recreated the vintage strapless trumpet gown from the 1960 Mattel doll.
The two stars paused for a slew of snaps together before the screening began inside the Shrine Auditorium.
The singer had a special part when it came to Greta Gerwig’s anticipated live-action film, which hits theaters later this month on July 21.
Nicki contributed to the soundtrack with the song, Barbie World, which also featured Ice Spice and sampled Aqua’s 1997 hit tune, Barbie Girl. The track officially dropped late last month on June 23.
During a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Margot opened up about the song and wanting to somehow incorporate Aqua’s Barbie Girl into the film.
‘I was like, “Greta, how are we going to incorporate this song?”‘ she recalled, referencing to the director and writer of the movie.
‘We can’t do a Barbie movie and not have a nod to Aqua’s Barbie Girl. It has to be in there. And [Greta] was like, “Don’t worry, we’re going to find a cool way to incorporate it,”‘ Robbie told the outlet.
The Babylon actress then remembered the moment Greta gave the surprising news about the song. ‘Then, when she was like, “Guess who’s going to do the remix of Aqua’s Barbie Girl? Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice.”‘
‘I was like, “Together? Are you joking?!” I just knew immediately that all my girlfriends were going to lose their minds.’ Mark Ronson, who was the executive producer on the soundtrack album, also jumped into the interview.
He admitted, ‘I feel like people have been asking Nicki to rhyme over some version of Barbie Girl for 15 years now.’
Ice Spice also gushed about having the chance to work with Minaj on Barbie World. The two notably have collaborated in the past, such as the track titled Princes Diana.
While talking to The Guardian earlier this month, Ice Spice revealed a piece of advice that Nicki had given her. ‘She be telling me to learn from her mistakes – just watching her in general, if you pay close enough attention, you gonna see.’
The Boy’s A Liar, Pt. 2 singer added, ‘I love to talk to her about things that I can’t talk about publicly – it just means so much to be able to have somebody like her.’
The Barbie movie not only stars Margot, but also Ryan Gosling, Dua Lipa, America Ferrera, Will Ferrell, Issa Rae, Hari Nef, and Simu Liu. Various versions of both the Barbie and Ken dolls will be portrayed, with actress Helen Mirren narrating the film.
The premise of the movie, which has a budget of $100 million, follows Barbie and Ken as they travel to the real world in order to find the true meaning of happiness.
Barbie will officially hit theaters later this month on July 21, the same day Christopher Nolan’s historical epic drama, Oppenheimer, also releases.
Along with appearing on the Barbie soundtrack, Nicki has been working hard on her own upcoming fifth studio album. Last month in June, she announced that the album would drop later this year in October.
However, she revealed soon after that the release date had been changed to a later date on November 17.
She took to Instagram and penned in a post, ‘Dear Barbz, I’ve been trying to find the right time to tell you this for a few days. Due to some really exciting news that I’ll share with you guys @ a later time, I’ve shifted the album date just a tad bit.’
‘Trust me, it’ll be WELL WORTH THE WAIT…but since I AM shifting the date just a tad, I’d like to give you guys a tiny SIP of some more album tea…,’ she added, and then revealed the new release date and the name of the album which will be titled: Pink Friday 2.
Nicki sent love to her fans and added, ‘Nonetheless, you. will. love. this. album. I will give tour deets closer to that time, but obviously the tour will start around the first quarter of 2024. I’ll also share the REAL album cover at a later date.’
And on Saturday, Drake announced that he is collaborating with Minaj on his new album called For All The Days. He made the big revelation while on stage during his It’s All A Blur Tour, per USA Today.
