It’s amazing what stepping away from the Oprah show has done to my perspective.
Yes, I sat through nearly 30,000 interviews, never missed a day, and thought I was fully present in every moment.
Yet there are hundreds of episodes I’d completely forgotten about, until I started rewatching them all while creating my new show, Lifeclass, now on OWN every night at 8.
The tapes reminded me of some astounding moments whose impact I still carry—and gave me new appreciation for the delight and intensity of the work I did for 25 years.
I said on the final show, May 25, that I always knew I was exactly where I was meant to be when I was standing on that stage talking to viewers around the world. That was truly my sweet spot.
But the universe is full of surprises. Because it turns out that where sweet spots are concerned, we’re not limited to just one. For me, the proof is the work I’m doing now with Lifeclass:
Not only is the show based on the most meaningful lessons I took from those 25 years but it’s about learning and sharing, which is where I’ve always found my greatest fulfillment.
At different times in our journeys, if we’re paying attention and able to create some luck, we get to sing the song we’re meant to sing in the perfect key of life.
Everything we’ve ever done and all we’re meant to do comes together in harmony with who we are. When that happens, we feel the truest expression of ourselves. I feel myself heading there now, and it’s my wish for you, too.
My goal with the new show is to offer you little pieces of light to reflect what’s possible, what’s hopeful, and what’s best in you. And to remind you that getting to what feels right often comes from things going wrong.
