Shortly after Harrison Ford became a huge star, his marriage to his first wife ended. 

From there, Ford went on to marry Melissa Mathison who was there as his career went to another level, 

and he convinced her to co-write one of the most beloved movies of all time

Ultimately, Ford and Mathison’s marriage ended in an incredibly expensive divorce and he went on to marry his current wife, Calista Flockhart.

When Ford and Flockhart tied the knot, a lot of attention was paid to their age difference. 

What a lot of people didn’t realize is when Ford and Flockhart got involved, 

the Ally McBeal star had just adopted a son. With that in mind, it begs an obvious question, what kind of relationship does Ford have with Flockhart’s son?

When most people think of Harrison Ford, they envision his many beloved characters and how rich and famous he has become. However, given that Ford notably seems cynical about fame during interviews, it seems all but certain that he values being a father more than any of that.

During Ford’s marriage to his first wife, Mary Marquardt, his two eldest children were born.

Ford’s oldest child is his son Ben who is now 56 years old and has two children of his own. A professional chef, Ben owns the restaurant Ford’s Filling Station, and he wrote the cookbook “Taming the Feast: Ben Ford’s Field Guide to Adventurous Cooking”.

Ford’s second child from his first marriage turned 54 years old in May 2023, and he also is the father of two kids. After earning his B.A. from the University of California, Santa Cruz, Willard became the owner of Strong Sports Gym.

Ford’s second marriage to the now-deceased Melissa Mathison led to the birth of two more of his kids. Ford’s son Malcolm was born in 1987 and works in the entertainment industry like his famous father. A musician who plays the guitar, Malcolm was The Dough Rollers’ lead singer when the band opened for Bob Dylan and Queens of the Stone Age.

In the year 1990, Ford’s sole daughter Georgia was born. Like her father, Georgia has grown up to become an actor, although she has only landed a handful of roles. In the past, Ford has referred to Georgia as his “hero” because of how she battles epilepsy after suffering seizures as a child.

Inspired by his daughter, Ford, has spent years supporting charities designed to help people dealing with epilepsy. Most notably, Ford once auctioned off his Han Solo jacket to benefit epilepsy research.

While Flockhart didn’t go home with a trophy, she did catch the eye of Harrison Ford after the duo met that night when Ford was 60 years old and Flockhart was 22 years his junior. After quickly becoming a couple Ford and Flockhart wound up walking down the aisle in 2010.

Roughly a year before Ford and Flockhart met, she’d adopted her son Liam who later became his son as well.

Before Ford and Flockhart got married, he was interviewed by Reader’s Digest in 2008. During the resulting conversation, Ford spoke about how thankful he was that Flockhart had allowed him to be a father again.

“My youngest, other than Liam, is 17. It’s a wonderful opportunity to be part of a child’s growing up, which is always an endless springtime. You see the blossoming and the growing and the nurturing and the payoff. Being a parent made me just a bit less self-centered. She’s brought a child back into my home.”

The same year Flockhart and Ford got married, he spoke to Parade about when he met Liam. “I think Liam was about 6 or 8-months-old when I met him and Calista. We have been together ever since.”

During that same interview, Ford explained what kind of relationship he had with Flockhart and Liam. “I do whatever [they] want to do. We’ll take a couple of hours on Sunday morning to go motorcycle riding or go for a hike. I just made a birdhouse with my son.”

Ford also stated that he believed that being an older father at the time only made him a better parent. “My first child was born when I was 25. Babies raising babies is not a pretty sight. I am much better at it now.”

Finally, when Ford was asked if having Liam was an “unexpected joy” for him, his answer was very revealing. “Yeah…I wasn’t expecting it at all. The unexpected part was certainly true. And the joy part is also true.”

Also in 2010, Ford spoke to The Independent about his relationship with his son Liam. During the resulting conversation, Ford explained that having a son who was 9 years old at the time made him feel younger.

“I’ve got five kids in total, so it’s not my first rodeo. Yeah, obviously, I’m getting older but I don’t relate to it very much. It doesn’t interest me as something to dwell on. I have a 9-year-old kid at home. I feel like the father of a 9-year-old.”

Of course, just because Ford had a close relationship with Liam when his son was 9 years old doesn’t mean they’ve remained tight. However, fortunately for the father and son, all the evidence seems to point to Ford and Liam still having a tight bond.

Over the years, Ford and Flockhart have both repeatedly been caught on camera being there by their son Liam’s side as he made his way through life. One perfect example of that is Flockhart and Ford were photographed on the sidelines of Liam’s games in the past.

Another indication of Liam’s bond with his parents is that he was pictured in Croatia when he was on vacation with Ford and Flockhart in 2021. A year before those photos were taken, it was learned that Ford flew Flockhart and Liam to the college where the couple’s youngest son began learning.
