Nicki Minaj and husband Kenneth Petty are doting parents to their baby boy, who is affectionately nicknamed “Papa Bear”. On Thursday, Nicki took to her Instagram to share several video clips of her son, who turns one this month.
In one video clip, Papa Bear can be seen sitting on his mom’s lap as he sports some afro puffs. “‘Mama I know I’m a cute boy!
You a cute boy?’” Nicki says in a baby voice. In another video, the tiny tot says “hi” to the shock of his parents.
Nicki Minaj announced her pregnancy news only two months ahead of her son’s arrival. “#Preggers. Love. Marriage.
Baby carriage,” Minaj captioned her July 2020 baby bump debut via Instagram. “Overflowing with excitement and gratitude. Thank you all for the well wishes.”
Papa Bear was born in September of 2020. “I am so grateful and in love with my son,” Nicki wrote in an Instagram post in October 2020. “Madly in love. My favorite liddo [sic] boy in the whole wide world.”
She later shared the first Instagram video of her baby in January of 2021 and captioned it: “#PapaBear thank you so very much for choosing me to be your mama. Becoming a mom is by far the most fulfilling job I’ve ever taken on.
Sending love to all the superhero mothers out there.”
Since welcoming her bundle of joy, the rapper has tried to balance her career with motherhood, but says that it is challenging.
“To the women that have to get up and go to work every day and leave the baby or put the baby in day care, God bless you,” Minaj said in a July 2021 Instagram Live. “Like, I know that’s not easy. Like, I can do a photoshoot for two hours and when I see my baby, I feel guilty. I feel like, ‘Oh, my God.’”
